Participants run to ‘stay alive’ during Guthrie’s Zombie Bolt
GUTHRIE, Okla. – While the government is shut down, a group in Guthrie is preparing for the ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ with a fun event to get everyone in shape.
The Zombie Bolt 5K is scheduled for October 5 at 2 p.m. in downtown Guthrie.
Participants are able to register as one of three different levels of zombies, including the wanderer, limper or bolter.
You can also register as a runner trying to outrun the zombies, who will be trying to grab at flags attached to runners’ belts.
Visitors will work to ‘stay alive’ through 3.1 miles.
Participants have until October 3 to register for the run, which is 92 percent full.
Money raised from the event will benefit the “Toby Keith Foundation” and Children’s Miracle Network.
Organizers are expecting 3,000 people to participate in this month’s run, which has become nationally recognized as one of the top zombie runs in the country.
