NEW YORK CITY -- Long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad is back in the water, this time for 48 hours and for a very good cause!
Nyad is doing laps in a makeshift lap pool set up in the heart of New York City, on Herald Square.
The 64-year-old is swimming to benefit "AmeriCares Hurricane Sandy Relief" one year after the disastrous storm.
There is a second lane in the pool where others can join Nyad for a few laps.
She has already raised over $50,000 for this cause.
Next, Nyad is going swimming in Boston to fundraise for the Boston Marathon bombing victims. Then she will be bringing the pool to Moore, Oklahoma to raise money for the victims of the May tornadoes.
