UPDATE: – The Logan County Sheriff ‘s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation have made an arrest in the homicide investigation taking place after a woman’s body was located this morning.
The victim has been identified. Family members are being located.
Timothy Slawson, 03-31-1992 of south Logan County has been arrested and is being held at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. — It was an emotional morning in Guthrie after a family discovered a woman’s naked body at their street’s dead end.
Logan County authorities say she he was found in the 9900 block of South Bryant Friday morning
“It’s been a horrible, horrible morning,” says Thornbrue. “Just horrible.”
In the 50 years Thornbrue and her family have lived on this land, they’ve never once made such a tragic discovery. Every morning the entire family walks the gravel road that leads to their otherwise peaceful dead end.
“When we got down by my house at the end of the road we saw what we thought was a deer,” says Thornbrue. “As we got closer we realized it wasn’t a deer. It was a person.”
When Logan County authorities arrived Thronbrue showed them what she found, a woman’s nude body with trauma. The Sheriff’s Office’s Chief Deputy, Richard Stephens, says he has every reason to believe she was left here by someone.
“That’s the working theory,” says Stephens. “There’s no reason to believe she was killed here at this point.”
“I just feel like we should have been able to do something,” says Thornbrue.
Thornbrue says it’s a blessing that for some reason the 15 kids in her family that usually accompany her on her walk weren’t there.
“We all live out here together and we normally all walk,” says Thornbrue. “Thank God it was just my adult daughter and I.”
Thornbrue’s son Kevin was returning home just as police arrived to find his family shaken up by what they found Friday morning.
Kevin McGuire says, “It’s usually just pretty quiet and peaceful down here in the middle of nowhere in Guthrie.”
“This person has value and life. This person matters,” says Thornbrue. “She mattered to God and to somebody and no one has the right to take another person’s life like that.”
Logan County authorities are still trying to identify this woman and they need your help.
