Pay it 4Ward: Honoring a little author with a big heart
EDMOND, Okla. — With the help of Spirit Bank we are once again “Paying it 4ward.” This time it’s a little girl who has a big heart for helping others.
And she does it in a way that you would never suspect.
Inside her elementary school in Edmond is where we find third grader Bridget Nye. She is in Mrs. Finnels class.
It’s reading time and Bridget loves books so much she is already a published author.
She has written three children’s books. Bridget uses the money she gets from selling her books to help her favorite charities.
Now she wants to buy back some of her books from her publisher so she can give them to kids at children’s Hospital.
That’s why Carlita Cartmill-Wheeler nominated her.
Bridget’s parents Megan and Zachary say, “We’re amazed.”
So it was time to pay it forward with, parents, grandparents, and school administrators in tow.
“Hi little bit; we’ve got a surprise for you today. Because of all that you do with your books, we have $400 for you,” Kevin Ogle says to Bridget.
Bridget has learned at a tender age how important it is to help others. Besides the kids at children’s, Bridget sends her publishing proceeds to others in need.
We talked Bridget into reading from one of her books for us. They are pearls of wisdom from a little Oklahoma girl who pays it forward in a big way.
