Health experts said there are 5 food culprits along with two simple rules that we should all follow.
First, eat the right portion size and second, eat a variety of foods.
5 foods to avoid:
First on the list is saturated fat – This is found in things like fatty meats and foods containing coconut oil.
Next is trans fat – Doctors are calling this poison. Trans fats not only raise our bad cholesterol, they also lower our good cholesterol.
You find them in some margarine and in commercially baked goods like cookies and cakes.
The other 3 foods all have something in common, simple sugars.
This means added syrups and really anything that isn’t 100-percent whole grain.
That’s because they can cause unhealthy spikes and dips in our blood sugar.
Experts said we should only consume about a third of a teaspoon of sugar an hour.
The best way to keep yourself and your family healthy? Keep fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat proteins on hand.
