Hoping for early tax refund? Gov. officials said not going to happen
WASHINGTON – Hoping for an early tax refund?
Government officials said it’s not going to happen after the government shutdown earlier this month.
Authorities said the shutdown is going to delay the start of tax filing season.
The IRS is behind on computer programming and testing.
Now you won’t be able to file your return for the 2013 tax year until later January or early February, one to two weeks later than usual.
However, that does not delay the deadline for filing.
You still must turn in your taxes by April 15.
