Fire department alerting citizens about false claims
MIDWEST CITY, Okla. – A local fire department is issuing a warning to citizens and business owners about a potential scam going around town that is using its name.
Authorities with the Midwest City Fire Department are warning residents and businesses about a company claiming to be associated with the fire department.
Major David Richardson says local businesses have received calls from a company called “Firehouse Promotions,” claiming to be selling ad space on a memo board.
The company also claims Midwest City firefighters endorse its product.
On its website, “Firehouse Promotions” says it is contracted by local fire departments to produce dry erase memo boards to be distributed throughout the community by the firemen.
However, fire officials say they are not contracted with the company and are in no way associated with the group.
