Pair prepares to be first gay couple married in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY – A pair of Oklahomans who are preparing for marriage are also making history in our state.
Gay marriage is now legal in 14 states.
That decision was made by the people in three states and the court decision or legislative action in the other 11.
However, Oklahoma has banned same-sex marriage by changing the Constitution.
Despite that change, Jason Pickel and Darren Black will tie the knot in the City of Watonga later this month.
The couple stopped by our studios to talk about the perception of gay marriage in Oklahoma and how it is possible for them to marry here, even though the Constitution was changed.
