Five injured in ride accident at North Carolina State Fair
NORTH CAROLINA – Investigators at the State Fair in North Carolina are looking into what caused a carnival ride to malfunction.
Five people, ranging in age from 14-39, were injured while getting off a ride called “The Vortex.” The pendulum swing thrill ride is a new attraction at the fair. Apparently, the ride had stopped to unload passengers, when all of the sudden, it started up again.
Officials say it’s too early in the investigation to determine what caused the Vortex to malfunction but insist all the fair rides go through a rigorous inspection.
