Family works on rebuilding home destroyed by tornado
MOORE, Okla. – One family who lost their home in the May tornadoes is rebuilding with help of a local non-profit organization.
Jose and Ana Herrera’s home was destroyed when an EF-5 tornado ripped through Moore.
Now the couple and their daughter are swinging hammers with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity and other volunteers to build their home back.
The Herrera’s will put 50 sweat equity hours into their home before it is finished.
“You put some time into your house and some other people’s houses. As you do it, you learn to love helping other families.”
Their house should be ready for them to move into by Thanksgiving.
Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity hopes to build 400 other homes over the next 3-5 years for families impacted by tornadoes.
