OKLAHOMA CITY -- Scammers are calling from a Jamaican area code.

Rollo Redburn is executive director for the Oklahoma Lottery.

“They're just calling to say you've won a prize from the Oklahoma lottery,” he said.

Redburn says in this case there is no mega millions jackpot.

It’s shysters after your cash, promising a large sum of money or prizes, like a car or trip.

Rollo said, “They want you to send them some money so you can pay the taxes up front.”

Redburn warns, if you have to pay to collect your winnings, then you're not really winning.

The In Your Corner bottom line.

  • You have to be entered to win.
  • Never wire cash.
  • Don't put cash on a prepaid debit card.
