Oklahoma City police receive Safe Oklahoma Grant
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Police Department has been awarded a new grant for an anti-violent crime police overtime and code enforcement program.
As part of this grant, a centralized data sharing program will be established as well. This grant will be used to combat violent crime by using directed patrols, hot spot policing, Intelligence-Led Policing tactics and code enforcement practices in a designated area with high violent crime.
The area chosen is within the Hefner Division and covers from North Meridian Avenue to North Council Road and Melrose Lane to NW 27th Street.
This decision is based on a five year review of violent crime (2008-2012), according to authorities.
On Monday, November 4th 2013, the Oklahoma City Police Department will hold a community meeting to discuss the program with citizens who live or work in the designated area.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at Council Grove Elementary School at 7721 Melrose Lane.
