Astronauts making history taking Olympic torch to International Space Station
Three astronauts are making history Thursday morning.
The crew including American Rick Mastracchio blasted off and are now on their way to the international space station.
Also on board, the torch for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
For safety reasons the torch’s flame will not be lit on board the spacecraft.
The torch will be carried into outer space on a spacewalk, then make its way back to earth Nov. 11.
The Winter Olympic Games begin in February.
