GREENVILLE, S.C. – A South Carolina boy got a heartwarming surprise at school, just in time for Veteran’s Day.

His dad arrived home from Afghanistan early and decided to surprise him with a little help from the school.

Josh Carroll is an eighth grader at Lead Academy and had no idea the type of surprise that was waiting for him.

Josh thought he was attending the end of the nine weeks award program but his father was actually patiently waiting for the right moment to appear.

Lt. Paul Carroll said, “We are going to try and pull it off. He thinks I’m coming home in three weeks.”

Josh’s father, his mom and the school staff planned the whole surprise when Paul arrived home from Afghanistan early.

The final award was for service to your country, which was when Josh and his mom were called to the front of the whole school.

What happened next is something you just have to see.

According to WYFF, Lt. Carroll was also able to surprise two of his other children after the assembly.
