Explosion at Tennessee plant forces dozens to evacuate
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Dozens of people are being evacuated after a massive plant explosion in Tennessee.
According to WSMV, a biodiesel tank somehow caught fire and exploded at the Southern Energy facility around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Police are evacuating residents who live within a half-mile radius of the plant, including a school.
Authorities evacuated Thomas Magnet School and took students to another middle school as a precaution.
At this time, we’re learning that one person was transported to an area hospital.
No word on any other injuries at this time.
