Suspect arrested after fleeing from deputies, wanted in Texas
GEARY, Okla. – A manhunt that put a Canadian County school on lock down ended after officers found their suspect hiding in a wooded area.
A Geary police officer attempted to pull over 44-year-old Robert McGee for an improper tag display early Tuesday morning.
McGee, who was also wanted on drug-related charges in Texas, continued to drive on I-40 before pulling onto the shoulder a few miles later.
When his car came to a stop, officers say McGee jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area along the interstate.
As a precaution, Maple Public School was put on lock down as officers searched for McGee.
Six deputies, along with an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, began searching for the suspect.
Air One spotted McGee about a mile from his vehicle.
He was quickly arrested and was booked into the Canadian County Jail as a fugitive from justice.
