OKLAHOMA CITY – According to the organization “Take Shelter Oklahoma,” they’ve collected about 75,000 signatures so far on their way to a goal of 160,000.

They want to use a $500 million bond to fund storm shelter construction in schools across the state.

The money would be paid back using the State Franchise Tax.

Take Shelter Oklahoma still needs 85,000 signatures to put this issue on a ballot.

As of Wednesday they have 27 days left to get those signatures.

The petition must be signed in person, not online.

Volunteers will also be collecting signatures at high school football games and various shopping locations Black Friday.
