Oklahoma Blood Institute fearing blood shortage after round of winter weather
The Oklahoma Blood Institute said it is facing a possible blood shortage.
It’s all because of the winter weather last weekend and early this week.
OBI officials said the snow and ice shortened their donation week causing some concern about the state’s blood supply.
They had about 200 fewer donors last weekend than expected and several blood drives had to be cancelled entirely because of the weather.
To restock the blood supply, the OBI is hosting seven blood drives across the state Friday and more are scheduled over the weekend.
OBI’s permanent donation centers are also open Friday.
