Crews investigating cause of S.W. Oklahoma City house fire, woman escaped flames
OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman is recovering after her home went up in flames Monday morning.
Crews were called to the house near S.W. 10th St. and Rockwood just after midnight.
Fire officials said flames were shooting from the back side of the home when they arrived.
They said the house had boards over the windows.
“So at that time we thought it was a vacant structure but we still was doing an aggressive search,” OKC Fire Battalion Chief Richard Kelley said. “While we were doing our fire operations and fire tact operations, a lady did walk up stating that she was in the house and was needing assistance.”
That woman was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
Firefighters said the home had no power and no gas.
They are working to determine the cause of the fire.
