Campers prepare to weather cold temps for Bedlam seats
STILLWATER, Okla. – Determined Oklahoma State University fans are preparing to camp out in freezing cold weather this week, just to make sure they have good seats for the Bedlam battle against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Erica Lippert said, “The energy that paddle people in the front row bring to the stadium is incomparable to everything else. We like to show our school spirit. I typically paint up.”
Lippert won’t be painting up this go around because it will be so cold.
Campers will endure brutal chills for five days and four nights, all so they can have the front row student section seats at Saturday’s game.
Once they’re in line, the weather won’t let up.
Zack Miller said, “The cold is just going to be something that’s going to hang around with us for this whole week.”
In the meantime, students prepared Tuesday to stay ahead of the cold front.
“We like to stay close and stay warm,” said Lippert. “A couple people bring propane heaters. We have sleeping bags, layers upon layers, blankets, about three pairs of socks per person, gloves, hand warmers; those are a life saver.”
When it comes to the Bedlam battle, no Cowboy fan will let cold come between them and their team.
“The cold will never stop us,” said Lippert. “We will not be silenced.”
