Volunteers preparing for Red Andrews Christmas Dinner, in need of donations
OKLAHOMA CITY – As volunteers and workers continue to get ready for an annual Christmas meal, organizers are asking for a bit of help for next year’s holiday season.
The Red Andrews’ Christmas Dinner Foundation is asking for toys and monetary donations for the 2014 meal.
“We will have around 1,000 volunteers at this year’s event and we are asking the community for their support leading up to the holidays,” said Mary Blankenship Pointer, an organizer of the annual event. “We will be serving meals from the time we open the doors until the last person is served. No one will leave this event hungry.”
The Red Andrews Christmas Dinner serves 6,000 people each year and gives a toy to each child who attends.
This year’s event will be held at the Cox Convention Center on Dec. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Donations can be mailed to UMB Bank, attention of Mary Blankenship Pointer, 204 N. Robinson, Suite 200, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
Checks should be made payable to the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner.
Toy donations are also being accepted and can be dropped off at each UMB metro location.
