14-year-old girl preparing for brain surgery shares holiday joy
VIRGINIA – A 14-year-old Virginia girl preparing for brain surgery in Cincinnati has worked the past few months to collect thousands of toys for patients who will be in the hospital with her at Christmas.
Savannah Day and her family presented Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with more than 4,000 toys, including coloring books, dolls and board games on Wednesday, the day before her surgery.
“I have a chiari malformation. It’s where the fluid builds up in the brain and if too much builds up you can get paralyzed,” Savannah said.
Sister Chloe Day, 6, didn’t think Santa would know how to get to Children’s Hospital.
“Because he couldn’t get in the chimney,” Chloe said.
