Weather pushed back the championship finales for classes 3A, 2A and A in high school football to tonight, but the action was worth the wait.
In 3A, Kingfisher and Blanchard re-matched for supremacy with Kingfisher coming out on top 30-23. Sophomore Nick Smith literally carried the Yellow Jackets to victory rushing the ball only 9 times, but for 232 yards and 4 touchdowns. Smith is also the kicker and accounted for all 30 of Kingfisher’s points.
In 2A, Millwood jumped out to a commanding 19 point lead over undefeated Davis. But the Wolves never quit. Davis stormed back, recovering an onside kick after a touchdown, Blake Summers ran in the go ahead score with just under 2 minutes to play. Millwood’s Cameron Batson led the Falcons into Davis territory with under a minute to play, but Davis’ Braden Ruth stuffed Batson on a 4th and 1 play. Davis completes a perfect 15-0 season with a 36-29 win over Millwood.
Plus Class A crowned a champion for the first time ever between Hollis and Ringling.
