Oklahoma City Boathouse adds pump track; public invited to try it for free
OKLAHOMA CITY – Riversport Adventures will include a Pump Track for the 2014 season, which opens Saturday March 1.
As a special treat, the Boathouse is inviting the public to try the Pump Track for free during Santa’s Adventures, 1-8 p.m. December 30 & 31 in the OKC Boathouse District.
The RIVERSPORT Adventures Pump Track is a fiberglass mountain bike/bmx course designed with a series of berms, bumps and jumps that allow riders to utilize gravity and body weight to “pump” rather than pedal the course.
It is the largest composite bike pump track in the U.S. Bob Moore Subaru and Hudiburg Subaru partnered with the Boathouse District to fund the project.
“Adding a pump track to the Boathouse District allows us to create a more robust destination for cycling in the downtown area,” said Mike Knopp, OKC Boathouse Executive Director. “Plus, it’s another opportunity for youth to experience sports and the outdoors in new ways that generate excitement about leading a healthy lifestyle.”
