Exactly how many letters did Santa get?
Santa Claus is probably just about finished with his work this year, but you may be a little curious to know just how popular he is around the world and how bust he’s been.
Children all over the globe have been writing him letters and making requests. So who’s asking the most of him?
An international mailing organization said it expects Santa likely got more than seven million letters this year in his mailbox from all over the world. So where are those letters coming from?
Last year, the most requests rolled in from France, where about 1.7 million french children wrote to father Christmas.
The number two slot went to Canada last year with just under 1.4 million children writing him.
The United States came in third, with just over 1 million American kids sending letters to the North Pole.
But we all know Santa is quite busy, so more than 100 years ago, the United States postal service pitched in to give him a little relief by starting the “Letters to Santa” program.
And if you’re interested in joining the cause next year, you too can to to the post office, “adopt” a letter to Santa, and send a gift to a child who’s written to Mr. Claus.
The postal service will then send that present to the child on your behalf.
