Oklahoma State forward Michael Cobbins will miss the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured achilles tendon in OSU’s win over Robert Morris on Monday night.
Cobbins will undergo surgery on Thursday.
He suffered the injury on a seemingly innocent play early in the first half, and following a Robert Morris basket, inbounded the ball, then fell to the floor.
He was helped off and did not return.
Cobbins had started all 13 games so far for the Cowboys, and was OSU’s tallest starter at 6’8″.
OSU coach Travis Ford issued a statement Tuesday, saying “Our thoughts are with Michael, and we pray for a successful recovery,”
“We know Michael will work extremely hard and be back next season, better than ever!”
The Cowboys open Big 12 play Saturday at 3:00 at Kansas State.
