Clerk survives being shot in the face during robbery, second suspect on the loose
LAWTON, Okla. – A clerk is lucky to be alive after she was shot in the face during a robbery but police are still searching for one of the suspects behind the shooting.
Authorities say a black man wearing dark clothing, a dark bandana around his face and dark headgear walked into the Stripes store around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday.
The man allegedly walked up to the clerk and immediately shot her in the face.
He then walked around the counter and took some items from the store.
A second man, who was wearing a red bandana around his face, stood at the door.
After allegedly taking a few items, both suspects fled the store.
A witness walked into the store a few minutes later and called police.
The clerk was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Amazingly, the bullet did not hit any major arteries and she was able to give police a description of the suspects.
Police quickly arrested 25-year-old Jerrell Thomas, who allegedly admitted to the robbery and being the shooter.
However, officers are still searching for the second suspect.
