Man guilty of slapping toddler on plane sentenced to prison
ATLANTA (CNN) – A man who pleaded guilty to slapping a toddler on an airplane has been sentenced to eight months in prison.
Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of six months in prison.
However, a judge added two more months during sentencing for Joe Rickey Hundley.
In February, Hundley was sitting next to a woman and her son on a flight to Atlanta.
The toddler began to cry, which sent Hundley over the edge.
Prosecutors say Hundley called the baby a racial slur and then slapped the child in the face.
His attorney says he was in serious distress at the time.
He was flying to see his son, who was in a coma, and was to decide whether or not to take him off life support.
