OKC police, victim searching for woman following car theft
OKLAHOMA CITY – Police in Oklahoma City are searching for an alleged thief.
A woman is wanted for questioning in connection with a car theft outside Wal-Mart, located at I-240 and Sante Fe.
The elderly victim works at the store and was inside when the alleged crook stole her car.
“She stole my car from where I parked it,” said Darlene Garland. “Then she went in and stole $200 in merchandise. I think it’s pretty sorry when you work to buy a car and then someone comes along and steals it.”
Garland says after the woman stole her car, she left the parking lot, came back and parked on the other side of the lot.
She claims the woman then walked inside and filled up a shopping cart before she left the store without paying.
“She just walked right out of the store with the stuff she stole. She didn’t even put it in a bag,” said Garland. “She acted like she didn’t have a care in the world. To steal someone’s car and then go shopping, that takes nerve.”
Surveillance video captured the crime on tape but that wasn’t the only time Garland spotted her vehicle.
Last week, she went to work and says she saw her stolen car in the parking lot.
Garland said, “I think I was in shock. I didn’t think I’d ever see it again.”
Unfortunately, before Garland could pull over and call for help, the car again drove off from the lot.
She says she simply hopes the public can help identify the alleged thief and retrieve her stolen car.
Police can’t confirm that the woman stole merchandise from the store, but they do want the public’s help identifying her in connection with the stolen car.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact police.
