Cowboys Down Longhorns At Home
Oklahoma State’s 11th-ranked men’s basketball team got big games from their two stars and beat Texas 87-74 on Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.
Markel Brown scored 27 points and Marcus Smart 24 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals.
The Cowboys trailed much of the first half, going more than 7 and a half minutes without a field goal until a Brown dunk ended the drought.
When Stevie Clark hit a 3-pointer late in the first half to put OSU up 38-36, the Cowboys never trailed again.
OSU went on a 16-5 run spanning the two halves to take control.
Phil Forte added 14 points, with four 3-pointers.
OSU was outrebounded by 14, but forced 17 Longhorn turnovers.
The Cowboys improved to 13-2 and 1-1 in the Big 12.
Texas dropped to 11-4, and 0-2 in the conference, with their two losses to the two teams from Oklahoma.
