Woman pleads guilty to embezzling money from church
STILLWATER, Okla. – A woman pleads guilty to embezzling money from a Stillwater church.
Authorities say 43-year-old Dana Sue Eckhart is accused of stealing more than $141,000 from the First United Methodist Church.
She used to work there as a financial manager.
The allegations first surfaced a year ago.
Eckhart apparently wrote unauthorized checks, using the church’s credit card.
An audit revealed dozens of checks made out to her or her husband.
There were also checks written to a bank the church didn’t have an account with at the time.
In her plea, Eckhart stated she used church money in an unauthorized manner.
Her sentencing is scheduled for April.
