GUATEMALA – Authorities in Guatemala seized a half-ton of cocaine from a private plane that flew in from south America.
Officials said two Guatemalans aboard the plane were arrested when the aircraft landed Saturday, around 180 miles northeast of the capital.
The plane was registered in Costa Rica and flew in from Venezuela, according to the Guatemalan Interior minister.
Authorities took the confiscated drugs to Guatemala City in a helicopter.
Authorities were monitoring several landing strips after being alerted by Colombia and Venezuela, police said.
