Parking assist goes horribly wrong, lands driver in hot water
STUART, Fla. (CNN) – A system that is supposed to help drivers parallel park may be to blame for getting one driver in trouble.
The driver of a brand new BMW attempted to park but ended up on top of another car.
The driver told police he was pulling into a parking space when he turned on the car’s parking assist feature.
That’s when things spiraled out of control.
The car suddenly started accelerating, launching over a curb and landing on top of a parked car.
BMW officials say they aren’t aware of any complaints on their parking assist feature.
They added that it only helps driver’s parallel park and leaves the braking and acceleration to the person behind the wheel.
