LOCK UP: Volunteers stay at animal shelter to raise awareness
MIDWEST CITY, Okla.- “Shadows in the shelter” is an event at the Midwest City Animal Shelter where volunteers “do time” to raise money for the shelter and promote the adoption of abandoned animals.
To “bail out” a volunteer, someone must either post bail which costs 100 dollars or adopt an animal and take it home with you.
People came out for the event in large numbers, they raised $1,700, had eight people in the “jail cells” and completed three adoptions.
This is a new event for the Midwest city shelter and they say it will be held annually to provide animals with the chance to find a happy home.
All money collected will go back into the shelter to provide better conditions for the animals living there.
The shelter is open seven days a week for adoption from 8 am to 6 pm.
