NEW: Congressman James Lankford confirms plans to run for U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn’s seat

OKLAHOMA CITY – Congressman James Lankford has just confirmed he will run for U.S. Senator Tom Coburn’s seat.
Sen. Coburn recently said he will be retiring to spend more time with his family.
“Dr. Coburn has been a friend and example to me from the beginning of my public service three years ago,” Lankford said.
Congressman Lankford will be speaking more about his plans with us on NewsChannel 4 at 4:30 p.m.
Candidates to take Congressman Lankford’s spot will file April 9 – April 11.
Primary elections are June 24 with a runoff election if necessary Aug. 26.
The general election is Nov. 4.
