El Reno bank closing its doors: What to do if you’re a customer
EL RENO, Okla. – A popular Oklahoma bank is closing its doors but experts say customers do not need to worry about their money.
The Bank of Union was closed by the Oklahoma State Banking Department on Friday.
Authorities with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation made an agreement with BancFirst to assume all the deposits from The Bank of Union.
Soon, depositors of the Bank of Union will automatically become depositors of BancFirst.
The two Bank of Union branches will reopen as branches of BancFirst during their normal business hours.
While officials say those customers will become BancFirst members, they stress that they need to continue to use the two branches that were previously known as Bank of Union.
Authorities say it could take some time for other locations to be able to process their information.
Once that process is complete, bank customers will receive a notice.
If you need to access your account over the weekend, officials say customers can write checks and use their ATM or debit cards.
Checks will continue to be processed.
Also, loan customers should continue to make their payments as usual.
