Popular item used to soothe infants being recalled because of a choking hazard
An item that is supposed to soothe a baby is now being recalled for being a choking hazard.
Playtex is recalling its pacifier holder clips after the company learned the clips can crack and break off, posing a choking risk to small children.
The clips attach a pacifier to items like clothing, diaper bags and strollers.
Officials say about 1.25 million have been sold in the United States and 150,000 were sold in Canada.
They were sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Burlington Coat Factory and other major retailers from July 2010 through October 2013.
So far, the company has received 99 reports of the holder breaking.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Authorities say customers should immediately take the pacifier holders away from infants and contact Playtex for a full refund.
