Medical breakthrough Cord Blood Center opening downtown today
OKLAHOMA CITY – A medical breakthrough is coming to Oklahoma City.
Doors will open today for the Oklahoma Blood Institute’s new Cord Blood Center near 10th St. and Lincoln.
Before today, stem cells that have the potential to save lives were simply discarded in Oklahoma.
Now, the new blood bank will store that blood and the stem cells in it used for research and to help cure and treat a host of dreaded diseases like Leukemia.
There are only 23 other facilities like this in the entire world.
The grand opening for the new Cord Blood Center is set for 3:30 p.m.
