Wife suspects man of cheating, allegedly discovers something much worse on his computer

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City man is facing criminal charges after investigators say they discovered evidence of an alleged addiction to child pornography.

It all started back in 2011, when a woman suspected her husband was cheating on her.

Instead of finding evidence of cheating, authorities say she stumbled upon child pornography on her husband’s computer.

The discovery launched a two-year investigation that has now ended with criminal charges.

The 45-year-old suspect is charged with aggravated possession of obscene materials.

According to court records, the suspect’s wife alerted police after discovering “well over 100 pictures of very young children in various states of undress.”

The victims ranged in age “from about 3 to 16… participating in sex acts with apparent adult male partners.”

Vicki Wyatt said, “This can be anyone.  It doesn’t have to be that they’re an awful person.  It just gets out of control.”

Licensed therapist Vicki Wyatt says addiction to online pornography, both legal and illegal, is an illness more powerful than drugs or alcohol.

She said, “It’s like dealing with any addiction.  You’re not aware it’s gotten out of control, it just all of a sudden is out of control.”

The suspect in this case, Sydney Michael Andrews, has been charged but not yet arrested for the crime.

Even after having his computer seized in 2011, the suspect allegedly told investigators, “He still found himself going to child pornography websites again, despite the fact he claims he wants to stop and knew he was possibly facing charges.”

Wyatt says that’s not a surprise.

She said, “You do lose sight of consequences because you feel powerless to stop it.”

The suspect has two teenage kids.

Fortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any evidence of inappropriate contact with those children.
