ARIZONA – There’s a new resident at the Maricopa County Animal Shelter near Phoenix, Arizona.
His name is Meatball and he is so much more than the average kitty.
Meatball is a 36 pound cat. That’s about 24 pounds heavier than he should be.
Meatball was surrendered to an animal shelter in Mesa, Arizona on Tuesday morning and then sent to the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control shelter in Phoenix where he is receiving extra attention intended to reduce his sizable weight.
Staff members say Meatball is very friendly but this huge ball of fur can only take a couple of steps than he needs to rest; and rest some more.
Staff says the feline is too big to fit in the shelter kennels so Meatball has been enjoying more spacious areas, lounging on the couch, the office, and the halls just waiting to be fed.
