SAN DIEGO – Photos from a Border Patrol event with children are starting to fire up controversy.
According to NBC San Diego, the photos from the San Diego Fallen Agents Memorial 5K Run show agents watch as children shoot paintball guns at human-like targets along the California, Mexico border.
A spokesman with the Border Patrol told NBC San Diego it was a family friendly event where off-duty agents held a variety of demonstrations.
NBC San Diego reported the Border Patrol said the event aims to raise awareness about law enforcement tools without the use of deadly force.
Agents said the claims they were teaching children to “attack migrants” are false.
