Hazmat crews working to clear up an oil spill in SW OKC
OKLAHOMA CITY -Crews continue cleaning up an oil spill at SW 149th St. and Portland Ave. in Oklahoma City.
Fire fighters first received reports of the oil on the roadway around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening.
The low temperatures caused a pipe to freeze at the well site.
The pipe blew and spewed oil on the ground. It covered 200 feet of the road.
The area sits next to the south Canadian River, but fire fighters say no water is in danger because the cold weather has solidified the oil to an extent, preventing it from spreading.
