Bethel Foundation’s food bank open even though school is closed
OKLAHOMA CITY – Although Oklahoma City students may enjoy being out of school Thursday for a snow day, but a metro food bank director is worried they’ll go hungry this weekend.
Lynda Powell, founder and director of the Bethel Foundation, wants parents of students who receive free or reduced meals at school to know their food bank is open Thursday until approximately 4:30 p.m.
Students usually take food home overnight but Powell is concerned parents may think they are closed because school was canceled Thursday.
However, that is not the case.
“I’m worried about kids having enough food to get through the weekend,” she said. “My concern is food for kids.”
The Bethel Foundation is not open on Friday.
It’s a Regional Food Bank partner that purchases food for a fraction of the cost, then gives it away for free to low-income families.
They also have clothing to give away.

They are located at 13003 N. Western Ave. in Oklahoma City.
