Oklahoma City politician potentially running for Congress? Announcement today
OKLAHOMA CITY – It appears another Oklahoma City politician will throw his hat into the ring in an effort to move from the State House to Capitol Hill.
Senator Al McAffrey, a democrat, is holding a news conference today and it’s strongly suspected he will announce he is running for the democratic nomination in the 5th District Congressional race to replace U.S. Representative James Lankford.
Lankford is running for the Oklahoma U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Tom Coburn.
Senator McAffrey is a former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
He ran for the Oklahoma Senate in February of 2012 and won in a landslide.
He represents district 46 which covers part of Oklahoma County.
McAffrey is a navy veteran, former Oklahoma City police officer and now owns and operates a business called OK Cremation and Mortuary Services.
