84-year-old nun set to go to prison after breaking into nuclear facility
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (CNN) – An 84-year-old nun is being sent to prison for her actions during a protest.
Sister Megan Rice was found guilty of damaging and destroying government property.
They walked nearly a mile and cut through three more fences to get to the building.
The complex, which serves as a uranium processing and storage center, was supposed to have been one of the most tightly secured facilities in the country.
Hours later, a guard confronted the activists, who had already hoisted banners, spray-painted messages and threw blood on a building that houses highly enriched uranium.
