Oklahoma gas prices continue to rise

Oklahoma’s gasoline price average has risen more than 11 cents per gallon over the last two weeks, AAA says. FuelGaugeReport.AAA.com shows today’s average for self-serve regular is $3.216, compared with $3.103 on Feb. 4.

“We’re in that tricky time of the year when refinery anxiety is the rule of the day,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “Less gasoline is being produced as refineries gear down, clean out and then ramp back up again to produce the EPA-mandated cleaner-burning summertime blends. Sometimes the process runs smoothly, sometimes it doesn’t. Plus, rising crude oil prices don’t help motorists either.”

Today’s national average price at the pump is $3.37 per gallon, six cents more than it was a week ago but 36 cents below the price recorded nationwide on Feb. 18, 2013.
