KILGORE, Texas – A woman who says she was humiliated by the actions of a few coaches at her high school has just been awarded a settlement for those claims.

Sky Wyatt says she was 16-year-old when her softball coaches found out she was a lesbian and dating a fellow student.

She had tried to keep the relationship a secret and had not even confided in her family.

According to the lawsuit, the coaches accused her of having a relationship with another girl, which she denied.

According to the News Journal, she claims the coaches threatened to sue her for slander and called her mother to inform her of her daughter’s relationship.

After filing several grievances with the district and seeing no change, Wyatt filed a lawsuit,  claiming the school violated her right to privacy under the U.S. Constitution, the Texas Constitution and Texas Common Law.

The district agreed to pay $77,500 to settle the lawsuit.
