Iowa State hit 15 three-pointers and led almost the entire game on their way to an 86-69 win over the 15th-ranked Oklahoma State women’s basketball team on Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.
OSU’s lone lead was 2-0, and Iowa State never trailed after that.
The Cyclones three straight 3-pointers from freshman Jadda Buckley to take a 17-11 lead, hitting seven three’s in the first half on the way to a 34-23 halftime lead.
Buckley led all scorers with 26 points and hit five three-pointers.
ISU built the lead to 18 early in the second half when Brynn Williamson hit one of her five three-pointers to make the lead 47-29.
Williamson finished with 17 points.
OSU responded with a 21-8 run, capped by a Liz Donohoe three-pointer to make it 55-50.
The Cowgirls never got closer than five, though, as ISU hit four more three-pointers to get the lead back up to 18 before winning by 17.
The Cyclones outshot OSU 53 percent to 40 percent, and held the Cowgirls to just 2 of 14 from three-point range.
Center LaShawn Jones led OSU with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Both Brittney Martin and Donohoe had 14 for the Cowgirls, with Martin adding 10 rebounds.
Senior point guard Tiffany Bias was also in double figures with 10, but wasn’t much of a factor in the game, shooting just 2 for 9 from the field.
Iowa State gained a split in the season series after losing to OSU in Ames earlier this year.
The Cowgirls have now alternated wins and losses for 10 straight games, dropping to 21-6 overall, 10-6 in conference play.
Iowa State improved to 19-8, 8-8 in Big 12 play, tied with Oklahoma for fifth place.
OSU next hosts Kansas State on Saturday at 2:00.
