GEORGIA – A Douglas County, Georgia principal has been arrested for allegedly traveling with the intent to have sex with a child.
Reports say that 14 arrests were made over a four day period, including Georgia elementary school principal John McGill.
These arrest were made as part of Operation Broken Heart, a sting involving 37 local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the sting targeted people who found children online and arranged to have sex with them.
McGill is currently suspended from Mt. Carmel Elementary pending the state investigation.
Officials announced that other occupations of those arrested, included educator, engineer, laborer, salesman, business owner, software developer, and a musician.
The GBI stated that online child predators visit chat rooms and websites where children often visit.
Once they engage them in conversation, they introduce sexual content and arrange a meeting with them.
McGill’s cellphone was confiscated upon his arrest and he is being held on a charge of electronic pornography.
