Community working to save the ‘Teepee Church’ in Edmond tonight
EDMOND, Okla. – Members of an iconic church are hoping to preserve the rundown landmark.
Driving in Deer Creek near N.W. 178th and MacArthur, you can’t miss it, an old church shaped like a teepee.
Built back in the 1940s, services inside the so-called “Teepee Church” were stopped in 1989 because of the building’s condition.
The building got a new roof last year, thanks to donations.
Now, members of the Hopewell Baptist Church are hoping to preserve the entire structure as neighborhoods and businesses pop up around the area.
The church is hosting a community meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to save the Teepee Church.
